Title: The Three Mistakes Of My Life
Author: Chetan Bhagat
Released : Earlier This Week
Chetan Bhagat’s previous works(Five Point Someone, One Night @ Call Centre) didn’t impress me much and I was not expecting much out of his third one either. Got as a gift, I started this book with varied thoughts(mostly negative) but after the read I was proved wrong and how…
The story starts with Chetan Bhagat receiving a ’suicide’ mail from someone unknown. After finding out the origin he travels to Gujrat from where the mail originated. The story is basically about three guys Govind – A Maths Scholar, Ishaan(Ish) – Cricket Champ, and Omi – A Hindu Priest’s Son, who stay in Ambavadi of Gujrat. Ishaan tired of his father’s constant scoldings(after he ran from NDA), Omi who doesnt want to be a priest and Govind who dreams of being a great business man, opens a shop dealing with Cricket Goods in the neighbourhood temple. This is the story of how their business expands and how they face all the turmoils in order to try making big.
Chetan Bhagat tries to combine fact and fiction including the Gujrat Earthquake and the compeling climax based on the Godhra Riots including Cricket(which is a religion to India), Hindu- muslim politics and offcourse the humour which was evident in his previous works. The effect is absolute delight which I as a reader thoroughly enjoyed.
Must read for all lovers of good literature..
